Communications Coordinator

Job Summary:

This full-time position will be responsible for implementation of GMC’s central office communications and providing support to communications among the club’s 14 membership sections. Duties include executing regular social media posts, website updates, and electronic communications in addition to gathering content and material for all communications platforms, including the Long Trail News, the quarterly publication of the Green Mountain Club.

Job Duties:

·        Work with communications department on the development of GMC’s communications calendar, which supports the goals of the strategic plan

·        Curate and post content for all communications channels: social media, blog, website, and email

·        Regularly assess GMC’s communications platforms with communications staff through the lens of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion

·        Participate in the production of the Long Trail News, which will include photo collection, editing content, and supporting the Communications Manager

·        Gather and manage high quality photos for Green Mountain Club use, which will involve developing and implementing a photo management system  

·        Facilitate the production of GMC’s Annual Report (gathering data, stories, and photos)

·        Work with GMC’s section volunteers to support their communications goals

o  Provide Zoom meetings and appropriate trainings for section volunteers

o  Provide resources on best practices in communications and tips for using social media, creating newsletters, and communication GMC’s mission

o  Provide occasional content that can be share to members through sections

·        Participate in regular GMC staff meetings, trainings, and events

·        May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Accountabilities:

Support GMC’s communications efforts through planning and implementation of the communications plan and calendar

Regular outputs to social media channels, electronic emails and newsletters, and updates to the website

Regular communication with GMC sections to assist with communications and membership support

Participate in communications planning sessions and regular staff meetings

Qualifications:

·        Demonstrated editing and written communication skills across multiple media platforms

·        Experience curating content for social media, blogs, and mass emails

·        Experience managing an online email platform, including segmented lists for different marketing campaigns

·        Experience working with Word Press

·        Strong time-management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously

·        Experience with photo editing. Experience with InDesign and Photoshop very desirable

·        Commitment to customer service. Must be able to communicate and work well with GMC members, volunteers, and co-workers. Must be self-motivated and able to establish relationships virtually

·        Available for occasional evening work (e.g. weeknight committee meetings) and weekend work (e.g. quarterly Saturday board meetings and annual meeting in June). Flexible scheduling and comp time are available

·        Ability to work remotely

Salary Range: $38,000-42,000. Compensation package including health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid vacation, sick, and volunteer days included.
